Deceptive Body Language
In the cases where a person is trying their best to trick or deceive you, there are many signals that you can pick up from their
body movements. A deceptive person is merely concerned that they do not get found
out. Many times this can be discovered through looking at the body language
clues.
A person who is being deceptive tends to exhibit anxiety which includes such signals as sweating, quick movements, minor muscle
twitches in and around the eye and mouth area and more easily recognizable is the change in the person’s voice pitch and talking
speed. As many of these signals are basically programmed during our youth, you can pick up on
these types of signals quite quickly.
Other body language clues from a deceptive person include control and distraction. A
deceptive person will try their hardest to avoid being caught and will exhibit signs of over-control. Over-control includes such things as the person attempting to display passive body language signs as
forcing smiles (you will know this because a person’s can smile quite easily, but, one’s eyes do not ... remember the old phrase “the eyes
are the windows to your soul”), or the person may exhibit signs like jerky movements and clumsiness. A deceptive person also will tend to drift off or pause when they are talking as they need to make sure
that what they are saying next is in line with their deception.
The reasons for deceptive body language may be in itself an effort to persuade another person into saying or doing something, or,
perhaps the person may wish to avoid detection in a more self-oriented fashion. This could
include such reasons as the person is trying to get away with something or remove themselves from answering anything that may be
incriminating.
Most individuals who display deceptive body language are generally those who are devious in nature and do not necessarily look at
the whole picture of what their actions have on a situation. Most deceptive individuals are in
fact self-absorbed with their situation and lack a sense of remorse.
